REN supports a wide range of running goals, from complete beginners to seasoned marathoners. During onboarding, you’ll select one of these:
Start to Run (3-month plan for new runners)
5K
10K
15K
10 Miles (16K)
Half Marathon (21.1K)
Marathon (42.2K)
Each goal comes with a tailored training plan designed around your fitness level, experience, and availability.
Built specifically for these goal distances
REN is designed for road-style running goals—the distances above, trained with a mix of easy runs, long runs, and structured workouts that fit your week. In general, we expect most training to happen on:
Hard surfaces (road, track, pavement)
Treadmills or well-maintained paths
Light, non-technical trails (optional)
REN can absolutely help you build endurance and manage training time effectively for longer events, but it’s not designed for extreme trail or ultra-trail events with heavy elevation, technical terrain, navigation, or very long unsupported efforts.
So… Barkley Marathon? 😄 REN will cheer you on emotionally, but it’s not built to prepare you for that kind of adventure.
Your personalized expected duration
Even though each goal has a typical training range, REN personalizes the expected duration to you. After onboarding, REN estimates how long it will likely take based on things like:
Your current fitness and running history
How many days per week you can train
Your preferred weekly time commitment
How consistently you complete sessions (the plan adapts as you go)
That means two people choosing the same goal (for example, a Half Marathon) might get different plan lengths and a different build-up pace—so the training remains realistic, sustainable, and effective.
