When you log feedback after a run, you’ll see a toggle called “Planned workout”. This tells REN how to interpret the session in relation to your training plan.
Here’s what it does and when to use it.
What does the “Planned workout” toggle mean?
On any day where a workout was scheduled, REN assumes:
If you ran, you intended to do the planned workout.
So by default, when you give feedback on that activity, the Planned workout toggle is ON.
That means REN treats this run as “today’s planned session,” even if:
You didn’t follow the structure exactly
You cut it a bit short
You ran easier than prescribed
We assume: this was the workout you meant to do today.
What happens if I leave the toggle ON?
When Planned workout is ON, REN:
Treats today’s planned session as done
Uses the actual intensity and training load to update your future plan
Does not immediately try to squeeze in a “make-up” version of the same session in the coming days
In other words: even if you didn’t hit the perfect intensity, REN won’t automatically stack another similar workout right after it. It respects that you tried to do the planned workout and adjusts your plan from there.
Use this when:
You attempted the planned workout, even if it wasn’t perfect
You adapted the session a bit (shorter, easier) but it was still that workout in spirit
What if the workout I did was not the planned one?
Sometimes you run on a day with a planned workout, but:
You only did an easy jog instead of intervals
You swapped days and did tomorrow’s session instead
You ran for fun with friends and ignored the plan completely
In those cases, you should turn OFF the Planned workout toggle.
This tells REN:
“I ran today, but I did not do the workout that was planned for today.”
What happens if I turn the toggle OFF?
When Planned workout is OFF, REN:
Treats today’s planned session as not executed
Looks at:
The intended workout for today
The intensity and training load of what you actually did
Decides when in the upcoming days it’s safest and smartest to schedule a similar workout to what was intended for today
So instead of saying “this workout is done,” you’re saying:
“I skipped that specific workout, but I still want REN to find a good spot soon to do something like it.”
REN will then reinsert a comparable workout when your load and recovery allow it, without overloading you.
When should I turn the toggle ON vs OFF?
Leave it ON when:
You attempted the planned workout (even if modified)
You followed the general intention: e.g. a harder session, a long run, a tempo, etc.
You’re okay with REN treating that workout as “completed” and not scheduling a clone of it right away
Turn it OFF when:
You did something completely different from what was planned
You swapped your week around and want today’s planned session to be moved, not marked as done
You want REN to reschedule a similar workout in the next days, rather than considering it complete
Why does this matter?
The Planned workout toggle helps REN understand:
Whether today’s planned stimulus actually happened
Whether it should move on, or try to fit that workout in later
That’s how REN keeps your plan flexible and realistic, without overreacting to a slightly off day or ignoring a key session that never actually took place.
Use the toggle to tell REN the truth about your intention—and REN will do the smart planning around it.
